The Unspeakeasy – Join the launch of Meghan Daum’s latest Unspeakable media project

Former LA Times Columnist & NY Times Best Selling Author Hosts – Lloyd Cellars Supports with Wine Tasting

January 29, 2023 at 3:00 pm 6:00 pm

In the spring of 2022, the writer, podcaster and teacher Meghan Daum led a group of ten women into the California high desert for three days of brainstorming about an exciting new project. In a series of candid, intense, deeply informed, and often emotional discussions, they wrestled with some of the most vexing and complicated issues of our times: the chaos of COVID policies, the new gender ideology, the state of the #MeToo movement, gun rights, reproductive rights, the ideological capture of fine arts and culture, and much more. It was a life-changing experience.

It was also the start of The Unspeakeasy.

What Is The Unspeakeasy? The Unspeakeasy is a community for women who crave honest, rational, nuanced conversations about subjects that don’t come with easy solutions or lend themselves to memes or hashtags. It’s kind of like The Unspeakable Podcast, except everyone’s invited to join the conversation, connect with one another, and expand our worldviews while also reclaiming a sense of shared reality. If you’d like to join Meghan Daum and friends for a private launch event and wine tasting in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 29, email your request to joel@lloydcellars.com!

Present

A SAN JOES INT’L SHORT FILM FESTIVAL VIP MIXER & TASTING

At Vintage Wine Merchants, Santana Row

377 Santana Row, Suite 1135

Prescription Vineyards is celebrating our multi-year sponsorship of the San Jose Int’l Short Film Festival and our recent feature article in The Somm Journal magazine. The ‘Aerating the Sun’ story and interview with Winemaker Rob Lloyd highlight why our Chardonnay makes such an excellent wine for restaurant By-the-Glass (BTG) programs.

Amazingly, after providing the editors with a list of venues that showcase us BTG, they chose to interview Issei Chiba of Santana Row’s Vintage Wine Merchants. The hybrid wine shop and wine bar are directly across the street from the film festival’s venue, Cinemark’s CineArts Theatre. If you’d like to attend the San Jose Int’l Short Film Fest, use PROMO CODE: PV2022 to receive 20% off on all tickets!

Issei also pairs our Prescription Vineyard’s Clarksburg Chardonnay with the kitchen’s ‘Mortadell-Burrata Pizza,’ so it seemed apropos to serve up hosted bites of this delicious pie during the event. To round out the experience, we’ll also share tastes of our Lloyd Cellars Carneros Chardonnay and Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir. The event will be a great opportunity to pre-stock your wine cellar for the upcoming holiday 2022 season!

Please email Joel@LloydCellars.com to RSVP for Saturday’s complimentary wine tasting!

Gina Garbero’s Scallop with White Wine & Butter Sauce Recipe

Gina Garbero Scallop Recipe
Gina Garbero Scallop Recipe

In our most recent Instagram Influencer collaboration with our friends at ApexDrop, we posed the question to everyone, “When was the moment that you realized you loved wine?” We were thinking back to that spellbinding moment in the movie Sideways when actress Virginia Madsen, playing the character Maya, shares her relationship with wine. We paraphrase:

“I like to think about the life of wine. How it’s a living thing. I like to think about what was going on the year the grapes were growing; how the sun was shining – if it rained. I like to think about all the people who tended and picked the grapes….”

As part of this collaboration, we presented the new releases of our Lloyd Cellars 2020 Carneros Chardonnay and 2019 Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir, along with our Lloyd Cellars Wine Journal and pen to help our friends capture future moments and musings over sips of wine with friends and family.

One of the early gems from this collab was the creation of a recipe by our friend, chef, and photographer Gina Garbero, AKA, the_chubby_home_chef. Of course, as a chef who is constantly developing recipes, she’s decided to use the Lloyd Cellars Wine Journal to capture her tasty creations. Check out Gina’s Scallops with White Wine & Butter Sauce recipe below followed by her how-to video!
